I've been Tagged

Hey So I have been tagged and I am not very happy about it so instead of posting five random facts about myself I am going to post about five things that annoy me.

1. When people don't reply to personal e-mails
2. When people don't go and visit other people
3. When people don't tell you that they are mad at you
4. When people say "oh there a click" yet they have a click of their own
5. When people force you to be fake with them.

So there it is five things that annoy me.

I am not tagging anyone else.

India Pics

Ok so these first two photos are of me and Sarah not being very culturally acceptable. opps. You see it was really hot that day and Sarah and I decided we wanted to tan so we went into the sun for maybe ten minutes cause it was so hot. So after we wanted to cool off so we hopped into the wash area. It was amazing. The water was cool and our hair felt so good after because it was the first time it had water pressure on it in weeks so all the soap from earlier was able to wash out.

Sarah and Sarah a student from school. Shakanya is the girl with the flower in her hair.

Sarah and a lady at a Gospel Meeting

This little girl was so adorable I almost brought her home. She said ok and her mom also said I could bring her home.

Natashia, Sarah and I at the kinger water factory. We drank mostly kinger water when we were there and the factory was also located right next to the school.

Natashia and I at the beach making “sand castles” there was rice patties, watering hole, outhouse and huts.
Natashia, Vardhini and I on the way to the boat on the way to fisherman’s village.
Natashia and I on top of the church at Fisherman’s Village.

This is me getting wrapped up in my sari. I never really learned how to do it because there was always someone to wrap me like Natashia or Vardhini.
The students in the morning doing the anthem and the pledge.
Vardhini and I at the beach.

INDIA

So here is the blog that you have all been patiently waiting for. Oh wait most of you haven’t been patient and have been constantly harassing me so I decided that it was time that I try to put together my thoughts and feelings about my time in India. I will try to tell you some stories and highlights but I won’t be able to tell you everything. Time and my typing skills don’t allow for it. Plus I don’t want you to be bored.

So on the way back to Canada we were at Heathrow and I was talking to Natashia a fellow India team member and I was told her how I almost got emotional on the plane watching a movie and how I felt I just needed to go and sit somewhere and cry. But it never happened. So we arrived in Edmonton and I was walking with Natashia and I said to her I don’t feel like I can breath I don’t know why I was just feeling confused about coming back to school and I didn’t know what to think or feel. So we got to the top of the escalator where you come down and then go out the doors and I was like I can’t do this so I went to the end of the line. When I got to the bottom I realized that there was a large group of CLBI students and I was suddenly overwhelmed and just started to cry. I hugged my old roommate first but from then on I just stood where I was and only hugged those who came to me. I couldn’t move it was like I was frozen. I could see some really close friends and I still couldn’t move to see them. It was very strange.

That was almost a month ago and I think I have adjusted to being back in Canada now. Our first two weeks in India was spent teaching English at St. Pauls Lutheran School. Kjel, Natashia, Sarah and I were in a group teaching. We went to five different classes a day and spent 45 mins to an hour with them teaching about the Fruits of the Spirit, English songs and lots of games of Hang Men. Then in the evenings our group would alternate with the other group and go to Gospel meetings. At the Gospel meetings we would share our drime, sing an English song and then just sit at the front while the two pastors that were with us from Canada would each preach. Lots of times we would either be served Sprite, Tea or a sweet coffee drink. After the meetings almost all the people would come up to the front for prayer and in most cases we would pray for them but occasionally it would just be the Pastor’s. After our two and a half weeks in Chirala we traveled 10 hours to a more mountainous region called Piler. We spend four days there and did Gospel meetings and some sight seeing. So I will sum up my trip with it was amazing and I really enjoyed the time. If you want more info lets go for coffee sometime or just give me a call at the school.

On my way home

After a tearful goodbye I am on my way home. I am in Heathrow right now. We didn't go to sleep before going to the airport at midnight so we were pretty tired. Thankfully I slept on the plane. Long line ups were annoying. I will post more about India when I get home.

Bites, Bites, Bites

Ok so this will be brief. My legs from just above my knees to my feet are covered with bites. I counted the bites on my one leg and I counted almost 50. You should see them they are kinda gross. I look like I am on Survivor. I will post a pic of it when I get back to Canada. The other night Sarah said with all the rice we have been eating it is like we are on Survivor India and I was like Out Sing, Out Pray, Out Save! and then I proceeded to laugh Natashia says I was laughing hysterically. Anyways I should go I need to do a few things before going back to the school.

How crazy I am in India

This will be breif because I am in India and we have an India Team Blog you can check for more details.

Ok so life has been crazy I got over jet lag rather quickly after finally getting to lie down and sleep. We have been busy at the school teaching the children. Some of us have had the opportunities to go to Gospel Meetings and have had amazing experiences there.

The people here are amazing and their hospitality is crazy. We don't open our own doors or do our laundry or other things.

So today we went to church and I had an awakard experience with my sari which is the women's outfit that you wrap and your stomach is showing (I know me showing my stomach crazy) then we got back and I was getting out of it I noticed that my stomach was coloured from the dye in the shirt so I was frustrated standing there in my bra when the little lady who always randomly comes in my room just comes in and stares at me. I freaked I was like I am tired of being looked at. Sarah and Natashia were trying to be supportive but they thought it was pretty funny. Then when I noticed my armpits were blue they were both laughing hysterically and were no longer supportive. Don't worry I have a picture of it.

That is it for now check the team blog for more details

LARIAM®....

...also known as Mefloquine is the type of anti malaria pills that I need to take for my upcoming trip to India. So I was reading through the patient information sheet and it is like those commercials you see on tv for drugs that say side effects may include and they go on and on. Here are some of the possible side effects
-Severe anxiety
-Feelings that people are against them
-Hallucinations(ex. seeing or hearing things that aren't there)
-Depression
-Unusual Behavior
-Feeling Disoriented
-"Some patients taking 'Lariam' think about killing themselves, and there have been rare reports of suicides. It is not known whether 'Lariam' was responsible for these suicides."

Yeah kind of crazy I would hope that if they were responsible for the suicides then they would stop selling the pills.

People have also said that I will most likely experience crazy dreams keep checking the blog because if I have a crazy one I will share it with you. Maybe.

Anyways I should go hopefully any side effects I get will be minimal.

My life

So I know my posting has been lacking lately and I am sorry for that.

So my room is clean and I really love having it that clean and am enjoying being in it a lot more often. Thanks to my friends Sarah W and Natashia who got it started for me. I then spent two hours finishing cleaning it. I even cleaned my closet. (Mum you would be proud {no pun intended} )

The trip plans are all coming together. I am excited to go. More info about Prayer Requests can be found on my prayer blog.

School is great and I am so thankful for the friends that I have made. This morning was my friend Erin's birthday so I made her breakfast in bed. I made her a Belgium waffle.(Tasha I have expanded and can make good egg sandwiches and now also waffles.)

Class this week is Missions prep which is nice to tie up the details and also give us a light homework week.

I am going to Creston hopefully on the 16th for Christmas and we might go to Summerland to my aunt's for the 23rd to the 26th. I am really hoping this happens otherwise it will be just me and my parents in Creston which will be a little odd for me.

I gotta go my neck is really sore and I need to do some reading before basketball and I also have night class tonight.

The Party

Hey Everyone so I thought I would tell you about what I did last night. Yesterday was the Guys party for the Girls. Every year at CLBI the guys throw a party for the girls and vice versa. The day started with Breakfast in the Co-Ed at 11:00am. We had some yummy pancakes and sat there while the boys asked what we wanted and made our pancakes accordingly. After that we had some free time until we had to be in the Co-Ed again at One. When we got there we were given a clue and sent out on a scavenger hunt trying to find out who kidnapped the don. It was like a big game of clue. We had to go to five different places and it took two hours to complete. When we were finally finished we went back to the school and had three hours to get ready. We got ready and went to the Co-Ed. We were then escorted in groups of four to the caf. There we were announced and went in the Caf one by one. The boys had done an AMAZING job decorating. Sorry to the boys I went to CLBI with my first year but these boys did a way better job decorating it didn't even look like the cafeteria. They had paper up around part of it that was sponge painted to look like bricks. Then the rest was covered in black. They had also lit one part up to look like a city sky line. After everyone was seated we were served an awesome dinner. Then had a time of worship. We ended the night with a dance. The music was swing/jazzy type music. It was so much fun and it was sad when the evening came to an end. It seem like it flew by. Thanks to the boys of CLBI for throwing a great party and making the girls feel special.
