The "Lewis" girls while not exactly we are missing our Nat Wurm who is in England working for the summer. :( But I still think it's a cute picture

Hannah (an honorary Lewis...sshhh don't tell Wanda), Me, Erin and Michelle

Thanks Girls for a fun two days. I love you.

my summer vacation

So I know it has been some time since my last post but I was gone for a week. I was on Holidays. I wouldn't say it was relaxing but it was lots of fun.

So on the 3rd I left GP at 11:45 pm and finally arrived by bus in Camrose at 9:15am on wed. I arrived with only one minor mishap which involved me riding in a taxi with a stranger and then in the stranger's sister's car. I was met at the bus station by Pat. I then went to her house and slept and after I woke up spent the rest of the afternoon and early evening visiting with the Lewis's it was a great time.

I spent the next two nights at Shannon's place. On Thursday I went shopping like all day with Jen T trying to find an outfit for me to wear to Krystal's wedding. I finally purchased one which I later returned that evening and bought a different one with Shannon which I really liked. You see there was this shirt I really wanted but couldn't find bottoms to go with it when I was with Jen so I settled for something else but then Shannon and I found bottoms.

Late Friday afternoon I left Camrose and headed to Regina. I was able to catch a ride with the Sorenson's which was a huge blessing. I got into Regina late but Chelsea was kind of hyper so we went to Tim Horton's with Marian.

The Big Day. Krystal and Evan's wedding. The wedding was beautiful and I got a little teary when I saw Krystal in her dressing waiting to enter the church doors.

The Happy Couple Evan and Krystal Moore July 7th/07

As you can see Krystal looked very beautiful in her dress.

I had four hours to kill in between the wedding and the reception so I went to the mall and went shopping with Jen and Shaylene(sp?). And guess what? I found the dress for my sister's wedding which was exciting. Coral is a color of pink right? After the reception I drove to Saskatoon and asked Allison at the last minute if I could sleep on her couch. And thankfully she said yes. Thanks again Allison.

On Sunday after church I got a ride with Lori and Marian who were on there way back tree planting. They stopped at the corner of HWY 16 and the road to Tofield. Pastor Kevin and Kendra then came and picked me up. You see I hadn't told the summer team that I was coming. So when I got to Erin's house I rang the front door bell and they got Erin to answer and you should of heard her scream. I love surprising Erin because she reacts so well. Michelle and Hannah were also happy to see me. I then spent the next two days hanging out with the girls which was lots of fun.
When I was packing my bag for the airport I said to myself I should put my dress in my backpack in case they lose my suitcase. So I get to GP I am waiting and waiting for my bag it doesn't come. My bag is now lost but it's ok I got it back today.

I went back to work today which was kind of sad after being off for a week but I need to save so it's better I work.

FREEDOM WRITERS

http://www.freedomwriters.com/

Ok so everyone you need to check this movie out. Sarah and I watched it the other night and it was really good. It is based on a true story. It's kind of like a Coach Carter type movie. The cover of the movie doesn't look exactly like this in stores. The one in stores also has Patrick Dempsey's face on it.

So head out to your local video store and pick this movie up. Then go home and make some popcorn and enjoy a good movie.

There is a clip below.

I haven't actually watched this trailer so I am not sure if it spoils anything. Watch at own risk.

my current state

So I am chilling here in S'toon right now. Sarah and I left GP right after work on Thursday and drove to Camrose and spent the night. We then spend the next day visiting people at CLBI and going for lunch. After that we drove out here. On the way Sarah and I were listening to music and we basically found our theme song for the current point of life we are at.

The song is called complicated and it is by Carolyn Dawn Johnson I have copied the parts that I feel I can really relate to. If you want to listen to it http://www.cdj.com/music/room_with_view.php

I'm so scared that the way I feel,Is written all over my face.
We used to laugh, we used to hug, the way that old friends do.
So complicated, I'm so frustrated.
Oh, It's so confusing. I wish you'd just confess. But think of what I'd be losing, if your answer wasn't yes.
Oh I want you to know, but then again I don't, It's so complicated.

Oh, I hate it. 'Cuz I've waited. So long for someone like youOh, what do I do.Oh should I say it.Should I tell you how I feel.I want you to know, but then again I don't.It's so complicated..It's so complicated..It's so complicated.Ohh..

The Strike is Over

So technically I only got 9 "real" comments but Mrs. Walsh told me she reads my blog so I am counting that. I need to make a power point for Mr. Walsh so I will write a real post later.

Monday, June 11

Going on Strike!!!!!

Ok so you may be wondering about what is happening don't worry it's not work related. I have decided I am tired of writing on my blog when it appears only 2 or 3 people are commenting on it. The thing is other people tell me they read it. So I have decided to go on strike and write no more posts until I get at least 10 different people to comment and say they are actually reading it. Anonymous doesn't count unless you sign your name otherwise someone could just comment ten times. My reasoning is if only 2-3 people are reading it then I might as just personally e-mail those people instead of writing a post. How long will this strike last? That is up to you the readers.

Take Care

Hopefully I will be back soon

Life in GP

So I know it has been some time since I have last blogged. Life has been busy and I have really had no desire to sit at the computer and write a post.

Work has been going good and I have been working for about two weeks now. Some days work is really boring like when I sit at the wood pile with not much to do. I usually write letters or listen to the radio if I have the truck.

Ben(Sarah's Younger Brother) just came home early with some friends and I am still in my PJ's nice. I guess there was a bomb threat at his school so they got out early. Now I get to listen to them play the electric guitar or attempt to.

Anyways back to work. So we did get the raise and it turns out that now we make $18.57 an hour. I got to work two hours of overtime this week which was pretty sweet.

Because I am a summer student I always do different jobs and it changes everyday.

In August I might be working two jobs. Working at the landfill and then where Sarah works on my days off since Sarah will be gone to Newfoundland.

Wednesday, May 23

New Job

Hey everyone so I thought I would tell you more about my new job now that is official. I got a job working for Aqua Tera. Working at there landfill location ie. the dump. Now before any of you begin to laugh at me you can only laugh if your making more than 15.81 an hour because that is what I will be making and then you can only laugh if you don't have education for the job you are working in. Also the contracts are under negotiation and will be re-voted on next week and it looks like we will be getting a $2.00 pay increase. Which means I would be making $17.81 and if you work on weekends it's an extra dollar an hour. Another bonus is the guy has the schedule made up way in advance so I would know my days off for the summer. There are three summer positions on the schedule and I am hoping for a certain one because then I will only need to take like one day off for Carolyn's wedding.

life in GP

hey so I have arrived in GP...it has been pretty sweet...looks like I have a job but will wait until I sign the contract before I post...all is well....

the pain

hey so I confess I had some pain and did cry a little bit today. When the dentist finished my teeth at 2 he said I am going to prescribe some T 3's and you should take them in the next hour before the freezing is gone. So I go and get the secretary to call my mum and there is no answer. Finally we get a hold of her and she comes and gets me. I get home at 2:30 and should be taking my T 3's anytime now. So my mum goes back to the dentist to pay him and get my prescription. So 3:30 rolls around and my mum is still not home then it's 3:50 she is still not home and my freezing is basically all gone and I am starting to feel a lot of pain. Then she finally comes home at like 4:15 and at this point I had been crying for like five minutes. So she comes in and is asking me whether I want to take my antibiotics or the pain killers and I was like just give me the pain killers. So she gave me 2 T3's. Then Sarah call and we had a short conversation after which I fell asleep for 2 hours. It was a really good sleep. :) Then when I work up just before 7 my mum told me to take another T 3 and I was like it hasn't been 4 hours it had actually only been 2 1/2 but she was like take it now before the other one wheres off so I did. Then I was pretty hungry so I ate some yogurt and was still hungry. So my dad went and got me cottage cheese and I ate that. But I was still hungry so then I ate some potatoes. Then just a little while ago I had some ice cream. Cause I only had two teeth removed both on the same side I am able to eat a little bit. I Should go to bed soon and take another T 3 and put the ice pack on my cheek again to help prevent swelling. Hopefully I am feeling better tomorrow. Thank you for your prayers.

done

hey so i just got home from the dentist. i am feeling pretty good but my mouth is still really frozen. he took out the top and the bottom on the left side. my mum has gone to pay the bill and to talk to the dentist and pick up my t3's. so i might be out of it for a few hours. please pray that I will heal quickly and my stitches won't rip

Wisdom Teeth

So over the last few months of CLBI I knew that my wisdom teeth needed to be removed. So when I got to Creston my mum made me a dentist appointment and I paid the dentist like 90 bucks to tell me what I already knew. The teeth have to come out. So they may a appointment for June 25th and july 4th and said if we get a cancellation we will call you. So just after 8 this morning the dentist office called and asked if I wanted to come in at 1 today. I said ok I might as well get it over with. So today I am going to get 2 teeth removed. If you read this before can you please pray for the procedure if you read it after can you please pray for my recovery. I am not being knocked out for this. I wish I was being knocked out and they were taking all four. But I need to call the dentist and see if we is just planning on freezing me and if that is the case then my mum is going to give me half of one of her "happy" pills. These are the pills she uses before she goes to the dentist because she hates going to the dentist. Thanks for your prayers. I will post again when I can.

ride again

So I decided to go on the bike ride again today it was my idea this time. In the first two minutes I was regretting this decision it was very sore sitting on the seat of the bike. It was also a harder ride today because I was so sore from the ride on Monday. But it was fun for the last part of the ride because my sister and I were able to ride beside each other and talk. I am still trying to figure out of the details of my summer and I should know more about that in the next week.

my life so far

So I have been having a little fun here in Creston. Yesterday I woke up and realized that my parent's lawn was really long so I thought I would mow it. So after finding the shed key I got the weed eater out and did that all around the lawn. I went back into the shed and had to avoid being stung by bees and got the lawn mower out. I then realized there was no gas. So I took the Jerry can and walked to the gas station and got some gas. I then came home and proceeded to mow the lawn. I had some problems with the mower so it took forever and I eventually got it done. Then in the afternoon my sister called and asked if I wanted to go for a bike ride but I told her my bike was broken and then she called back and told me I could ride Brad's. So we set off biking. Brad was on his Rollerblades and Carolyn and I biked. The ride was just over an hour which numerous inclines we rode to the golf course and then my dad picked us up. It was a 15km bike ride and had we biked all the way back to my house it would of been another 8km with a massive hill at the end.

THIS IS KIND OF THE VIEW I HAD ON MY BIKE RIDE
Then this morning my job was to paint the deck. That took a couple of hours because I had to go around all the edges by hand and then paint with a roller. It would of been faster had I not been talking on the phone at the same time. The color is a little off but I warned my dad and told him but he said that's ok paint it anyways. It should of been like a Burgundy red but it got painted fire truck red. Then this afternoon I spent over an hour cleaning the kitchen. I did all the dishes which were few I just basically loaded and unloaded the dishwasher. Then I washed the counters, walls, and cupboards. My mum was pretty impressed I think Greg would of been to.
That's my life so far in the last couple of days

Scary Flight

So today I flew from Vacouver to Cranbrook. I usually like to act all tough but the flight today was scary. I don't think it helped that we were flying on the same type of plane as pictured above. We were approaching Cranbrook when it felt like he went over a massive bump. My stomach felt like it was on a roller coaster. We then got bumped around by the wind. Let me tell you I didn't really enjoy it. I heard from others who have flown into Cranbrook that this is common. Hopefully I don't have to experience that type of flight again anytime soon.

Leaving Mission

So I have been in Mission the last week visiting friends and tonight I fly to Cranbrook to stay with my parents for two weeks. The week has been good, going shopping, and just hanging out. It has also bee kind of a hard week as it is the first week being gone from CLBI. Which means I have spent alot of time on facebook and MSN. How is eveyone else dealing wtih not being at CLBI? I know am not the only one checking my MSN and facebook alot. How is everyone doing?

Grad Photos

Me and Natashia. As you may notice we aren't wearing any shoes. That is because Natashia, Sarah and I decided to walk down the aisle for grad barefoot. We left our shoes at the pew at the back of the church. We said it was in memory of our time in India.

Natashi, Kjel, Me and Sarah W. The four of us were a group in India. We taught together and went to Gospel Meetings together.

Me and Sarah. For some reason whenever Sarah and I take pictures together it looks like she doesn't want to be in them.

Me and my "roommates" Lennae and Natashia. I wasn't actually there roommate but I spent enough time there I could of been.

Being gone from CLBI hasn't gotten any easier. The internet helps to stay in touch but yet it also makes it harder. Knowing your friends are sad or depressed and there isn't much you can do about it is really annoying. I wish I could just be there to give them a hug.

It's over it's over it's all over now

So the time has come. Let me start with the last 8 months have gone by so incredibly fast. Eight months ago when I started the 2nd year program I didn't know any of the other 2nd year students but now today 8 months later 2 of my closest friends are from the 2nd year program. I just had to say good bye to one of them and it was really hard plus the fact that she didn't leave right after I said good bye it just kind of dragged out. The other one I have to say good bye to at the airport tomorrow night. Won't that be fun. She has an international flight and I have a domestic flight so won't it be fun for me going through security all red eyed and emotional tomorrow.
This year has been an amazing year of good times and hard times that after going through have brought joy. I don't even really know what else to say how do you sum up 8 months of your life and gaining some of the closest friends you will ever have?

I guess I close with thanks be to God

Reflection on the year

So only 4 more sleeps and 4 1/2 days remain before my life at CLBI ends. I am very sad to say that in just a few short days I will have to say good bye to some incredibly close friends of mine. I have posted some photos below of a few of my favorite memories.

Coming to the end

Let me start with I hate Alberta Weather. On Tuesday I was in the courtyard with shorts and a t-shirt reading not we have like four inches of slushy snow. Anyways...

So the time has come...Only nine days left of school. I thought leaving CLBI was hard the first time it is going to be even harder this time. This year has been such a great year a time of growing and stretching for me. Yesterday I had my discernment session where myself my d-group leader a staff member of my choice and two close friends met and discussed the answers to the questions I had written. It was a very encouraging and affirming time.

This year I have made some amazing friends that I know I am going to have for the rest of my life. This year there have been many laughs, many jokes and even some tears but I wouldn't go back now and change any of those moments.

I ask that you would pray for all the students right now as this is a hard time as emotions begin to become very strong as the end of the year approaches.

Hopefully I can see some of you over the summer.

:)

heart broken the full story

So yesterday I was in a wedding. There was a cute boy and we danced for like 7 or 8 songs and then he just left and abondoned me on the dance floor. My heart was broken and I was very sad. Who leaves a girl alone on a dance floor just because it is past their bed time?? Ok maybe I should explain I wasn't actually heart broken because the boy was the ring bearer and he was three years old. He was so adorable. He started to like me when we were at photos. He would walk around and hold my hand. He even shared half his candy with me.
At the wedding the bridesmaids were suppose to go and dance when the step dad cut in on the dance of the father with the bride. Problem was there were only three groomsmen and five bridesmaids plus all the groomsmens were married so they had their wives. So I decided to dance with the ring bearer. We danced and then it was time for him to go after we finsihed doing the chicken dance he was so cute. So he left and put his pajamas on and I ended up holding his little brother and we wasn't leaving yet and he saw me holding his brother and came over and led me back onto the dance floor. It was so cute. At one point his grand parents wanted to cut in and I was like "I don't think he will let you cut in" and the lady responded "were his grandparents" and I was like "ok" So his grandma took his hand and I let go of his other one so his grandpa could take it and the little boy(Trevor) dropped his Grandma's hand and took both of mine. It was so adorable. Then after s few more songs it was time for him to go. It was fun.
The wedding ceremory was really good, we took photos at the church inside because it was so cold outside, but I still think they will turn out really good.
That's it for now.

Heart Broken

I had my heart broken by a boy tonight......I think I might cry

I've been Tagged

Hey So I have been tagged and I am not very happy about it so instead of posting five random facts about myself I am going to post about five things that annoy me.

1. When people don't reply to personal e-mails
2. When people don't go and visit other people
3. When people don't tell you that they are mad at you
4. When people say "oh there a click" yet they have a click of their own
5. When people force you to be fake with them.

So there it is five things that annoy me.

I am not tagging anyone else.

India Pics

Ok so these first two photos are of me and Sarah not being very culturally acceptable. opps. You see it was really hot that day and Sarah and I decided we wanted to tan so we went into the sun for maybe ten minutes cause it was so hot. So after we wanted to cool off so we hopped into the wash area. It was amazing. The water was cool and our hair felt so good after because it was the first time it had water pressure on it in weeks so all the soap from earlier was able to wash out.

INDIA

So here is the blog that you have all been patiently waiting for. Oh wait most of you haven’t been patient and have been constantly harassing me so I decided that it was time that I try to put together my thoughts and feelings about my time in India. I will try to tell you some stories and highlights but I won’t be able to tell you everything. Time and my typing skills don’t allow for it. Plus I don’t want you to be bored.

So on the way back to Canada we were at Heathrow and I was talking to Natashia a fellow India team member and I was told her how I almost got emotional on the plane watching a movie and how I felt I just needed to go and sit somewhere and cry. But it never happened. So we arrived in Edmonton and I was walking with Natashia and I said to her I don’t feel like I can breath I don’t know why I was just feeling confused about coming back to school and I didn’t know what to think or feel. So we got to the top of the escalator where you come down and then go out the doors and I was like I can’t do this so I went to the end of the line. When I got to the bottom I realized that there was a large group of CLBI students and I was suddenly overwhelmed and just started to cry. I hugged my old roommate first but from then on I just stood where I was and only hugged those who came to me. I couldn’t move it was like I was frozen. I could see some really close friends and I still couldn’t move to see them. It was very strange.

That was almost a month ago and I think I have adjusted to being back in Canada now. Our first two weeks in India was spent teaching English at St. Pauls Lutheran School. Kjel, Natashia, Sarah and I were in a group teaching. We went to five different classes a day and spent 45 mins to an hour with them teaching about the Fruits of the Spirit, English songs and lots of games of Hang Men. Then in the evenings our group would alternate with the other group and go to Gospel meetings. At the Gospel meetings we would share our drime, sing an English song and then just sit at the front while the two pastors that were with us from Canada would each preach. Lots of times we would either be served Sprite, Tea or a sweet coffee drink. After the meetings almost all the people would come up to the front for prayer and in most cases we would pray for them but occasionally it would just be the Pastor’s. After our two and a half weeks in Chirala we traveled 10 hours to a more mountainous region called Piler. We spend four days there and did Gospel meetings and some sight seeing. So I will sum up my trip with it was amazing and I really enjoyed the time. If you want more info lets go for coffee sometime or just give me a call at the school.

On my way home

After a tearful goodbye I am on my way home. I am in Heathrow right now. We didn't go to sleep before going to the airport at midnight so we were pretty tired. Thankfully I slept on the plane. Long line ups were annoying. I will post more about India when I get home.

Friday, January 12

Bites, Bites, Bites

Ok so this will be brief. My legs from just above my knees to my feet are covered with bites. I counted the bites on my one leg and I counted almost 50. You should see them they are kinda gross. I look like I am on Survivor. I will post a pic of it when I get back to Canada. The other night Sarah said with all the rice we have been eating it is like we are on Survivor India and I was like Out Sing, Out Pray, Out Save! and then I proceeded to laugh Natashia says I was laughing hysterically. Anyways I should go I need to do a few things before going back to the school.

How crazy I am in India

This will be breif because I am in India and we have an India Team Blog you can check for more details.

Ok so life has been crazy I got over jet lag rather quickly after finally getting to lie down and sleep. We have been busy at the school teaching the children. Some of us have had the opportunities to go to Gospel Meetings and have had amazing experiences there.

The people here are amazing and their hospitality is crazy. We don't open our own doors or do our laundry or other things.

So today we went to church and I had an awakard experience with my sari which is the women's outfit that you wrap and your stomach is showing (I know me showing my stomach crazy) then we got back and I was getting out of it I noticed that my stomach was coloured from the dye in the shirt so I was frustrated standing there in my bra when the little lady who always randomly comes in my room just comes in and stares at me. I freaked I was like I am tired of being looked at. Sarah and Natashia were trying to be supportive but they thought it was pretty funny. Then when I noticed my armpits were blue they were both laughing hysterically and were no longer supportive. Don't worry I have a picture of it.

That is it for now check the team blog for more details
