32 more sleeps :O

Oh my where does the time go? I only have one more month remaining in Minneapolis(Minnesota)...32 sleeps to be exact.

I am feeling mixed emotions about this. I am excited to go and be in Mission for almost a week afterwards and reconnect with people and I am excited to see people in Camrose. But I am sad about leaving the office. I am going to miss Carmen, Heidi, Deb and others. I am also going to miss people from the Ask for the Nations group. Sometimes I just wish I could do everything I want to.

For a faithful reader

Ok so the last summer I was privileged to live with the Walsh's in Grande Prairie. For those of you who don't know them they are my Honorary God Parents. You see I was baptized at 16 and didn't have God parents so last year I decided to make the Walsh's them. I went to Bible School with their daughter Sarah and also to India.

Anyways they have this dog named Charlie. Who Brenda(the mom) loves and he is her baby. Charlie gets special treatment. So at first I was unsure about Charlie. Charlie is not the brightest dog on the block. If you knock on the window and say "Where's the Kitty?" He runs and jumps up on the couch and looks out the window. It is absolutely hilarious. You can do it over and over and he falls for it like every time. The thing is Frank(the Dad) is the one who encouraged me to do it but the rest of the family hated it and used to get mad. So finally I stopped doing it even though it was so funny. Frank always tried to encourage me to do it and get me in trouble.

So this is Charlie. He is pretty cute. I loved him by the time I left. He even slept in my room a few times. We bonded when the family was out of town.

Isn't he super cute?

Life

So I just spent the last half hour making changes to my blog. Like finally adding the links of the blogs I actually read and things like that. I figured if I could do that I could at least write a new post.

I am to a discovery on friday night....I am getting OLD...I know I am not really that old but I am getting older we all are it is just a fact but I think sometimes we don't even realize it. It's like when you seen family friends in a long time and then they see you and they are shocked at by how old you have gotten and I wonder why are they shocked? Their kids have gotten older also. I think because when we see the person getting older it is less of a shock. One day I'll wake up and be 40 :O

So I was at this Bible study things on Friday night with a bunch of people I hadn't me before. Most of them were close to me in age but one or two were about 4 years younger. I noticed it a little bit. But it really hit me when this one girl who looked like she could be in High School said she works at a school I don't remember if she was teacher or what she was. I thought to myself here is this girl who I thought was much younger than me but most likely it maybe two years or so younger and she has a career. I am turning 24 this year and do I have a career? NO What the heck am I doing? I know that not having a career doesn't make me any different but it did make me think What am I doing with my life?

TV's at Gas Stations?

These photos are from the trip to Fargo at the end of January. I had never seen TV's at the gas pump before. What do people not get enough chances to watch TV? or is pumping gas really that boring that you need to be entertained for the three minutes? What do you think?

PS. Heidi Thanks for posing :D

Shrove Tuesday

So I was sitting at my desk on tuesday morning and I was thinking oh today is Shrove tuesday. I am not going to get to have pancakes. Then I decided to e-mail Heidi who is upstairs at her desk and ask her if she wants to have pancakes for lunch since it is Shrove tuesday. She says yes. She asks more about Shrove tuesday most people in the office had no idea what I was talking about. She happened to kind of know because she had heard it somewhere recently. I did some research on Shrove tuesday and figured out it was originally a British thing which explains why Canadians do it but Americans do not.

So we had lunch and enjoyed some yummy food. We had delicious pancakes made by a combined effort. Heidi mixed the batter and I cooked them. We also had some very good fried potatoes/hashbrowns that I made. Of course we had bacon and I would have to say Heidi is the best bacon cooker around it was so delicious.

Here are some pictures below so you get the idea. Unfortunately they aren't taken by me. Right after we had finished eating and were cleaning up I was like shoot I should of brought my camera so I could of blogged about it. Next time I will try not to forget it.

Have a great day.

I am sure most of you knew that already but this is me going super public with the news. My sister Carolyn and her husband Brad are expecting this little bundle of joy in June......I am ssssssssssssoooooooooooooooooo excited....Pray for my sister and the little baby growing inside of her....Also pray for my Mum and I cause we are going to fight over the baby whenever I am home of course I will win cause I will just use the argument that she can see the baby whenever she wants..LOL...

So now that it is becoming more and more real that my sister is having a baby I need a nickname to call "IT" as opposed to calling it "IT" so do you have any ideas?

IttiBitz....this post is costing me like 63US cents

So I was so happy with the response to the last post I was excited to post again so I was on the look out for something to post...So when Heidi and I were at the grocery store yesterday and I saw these IttiBitz Ice Cream thing I thought whoa that is weird I need to buy it so I can post it online. Of course I took pictures of them.I ate some but not actually that much. Because unlike Ice Cream that you usually just suck on a spoon this you end up with a bunch in your mouth. So to make a long story short it was making me really cold. Plus I don't LOVE strawberry ice cream but it was the flavor that was on sale. Speaking of cold it was really cold here today like -23 but it is actually warmer now than it was earlier in the day which is nice. It's suppose to get warmer and warmer as the weekend goes on. There expecting possible freezing rain on Sunday which would not be good since we will be driving back from North Dakota...Please pray for safe travels and a good event...

Have a Good Weekend

Sleep

so the last two nights I have been getting a fairly decent amount of sleep but when my alarm goes off the last thing I want to do is get up. it could be that I am just so comfy and warm in my bed. so now instead of getting up right away I hit the snooze button a few times...oh so lazy...on the bright side when I looked outside this morning there was a beautiful sunrise which I got photos of and will post them later....today will be a busy day I will leave for the office soon and then I need to work on some homework which should take about four hours and then after that is college and career prayer group so it will be a long day....but for homework I think I will go to the local Dunn Bros coffee location...I went there on Sunday and had a
Caramel Latte Macchiato
Espresso poured over frothed milk with vanilla flavor and caramel

it was so good it was almost as good as if Jenn Z made it at Merchant's. I always order my drinks extra hot but Jenn seems to be the only one who can actually do it, like Starbucks sucks at it but Dunn Bros did a great job at it. I can't wait to go this afternoon.

Have a good day

Time Flys

So I was thinking maybe I should write a post but then I was like I just wrote the other one a few days ago. Then I looked at the date and realized I had written it a week ago. Time is flying by here. I have been here for almost two weeks now.
Things in the office are going great. Carmen is super flexible about my time and is always telling me in the afternoon that I should be leaving and then proceeds to ask me or say I should do some studying. So far I have only done that once but I really need to get on it. Yesterday was a long day as I drove one of the missionaries around to various appointments. So last night I was pretty tired because I went to Carmen's trafficking prayer group so I asked her if I could come in to the office at 9 instead of 8 and she said yes and said you don't even have to ask.
Today I got to go with Heidi and Carmen to this Ecuadorian Rose store. They have some beautiful roses and are really cheap. Today they were 2dozen for $10 I think. But if you get a vase then they are more expensive I think 1dozen with vase for $15. The prettiest roses I saw were were like a dark orange with red tips.
Funny story from this last week....I was outside one late afternoon and I was taking random pictures kind of in the front yard when I saw a cop car slowly coming so I thought just keep taking photos next think I know they are stopping right by where I am taking photos the one cop asks what I am doing so I tell him then he proceeds to chat with me about Nikon Cameras it was pretty funny. Tonight is the Ask for the Nations prayer group so I should be going.

M 100th Post and my 1st one from the States

OK so I have already been here five days and haven't posted anything but part of the reason is this is my 100th post and I wanted it to be good and maybe a little long. Instead of just being like hi I am here.....

I arrived in Minneapolis last thursday night. I went to the office on Friday morning and got to meet most of the staff plus talked with Carmen who is my supervisor. Then in the afternoon I spent sometime unpacking I know what you're thinking me unpacking it's crazy....

This is the guest house that I am living in I am on the third floor in the back corner. The apartment building that you can see is where Pat L's mom lives.
This is the office where I work. My desk is in the basement.
Here you can see the corner of the office building and the corner of the guest house. This shows how close they are. The brown building in the background is the coach house that has apartments where staff live.
This is the front sitting room in the guest house.
This is my bathroom. It's a nice size.
This is my door with room number.
Here is my kitchen with full size appliances. It's a decent size kitchen.
This is the other side of my room. Which is where my sitting space is.
This is my bed and desk. This the one side of my room.
This is my door on the right. The door on the left is the back stair well which would of been used as the servant stairwell when the mansion was first built.
This is part of the landing area on the third floor and shows my laundry facilities. (When I just saw this photo I remembered that I needed to put my laundry in the dryer)

On Saturday I wanted to explore the neighborhood a bit so I went for a walk and then I saw a bus stop. So I went over to it and the bus came as soon as I got there. So I got on not really knowing where it was going but pretty sure it was going downtown. Thankfully it did so I got off downtown and wandered for a bit before heading to Target. Then I decided to walk home. I used the Hyatt hotel as my guide first and then Pat's mom's apartment building. Then that everning I watched a movie with Heidi and David. They are engaged and Heidi lives in the coach house.

I just realized I forgot about Friday night I don't know how I could do that. So one of my colleauges asked if I went to go to a Somalian Wedding with some people so I said ok. Actually that was after finding something to wear. So I went and it was so much fun. I would say 99% women in the room. I am unsure how many of them were Muslim. Anyways we didn't get there until about 10:15 we ate at 1:00 and I didn't get home until 2:30. I thought I was going to be deaf since the music was so so loud my ear was hurting. It didn't help my table was the closest to the speaker.

On Sunday I went to church with Carmen. It was really good. Then in the afternoon I went and visited Pat's mom Ruby and then had a nice supper with her and her friends. I am hoping to get over there as much as I can. I really enjoyed talking with her. She is such a women of God who spent so many years faithfully serving God overseas and didn't lose faith despite many hardships.

Monday was my first day in the office and it was really good and I spent most of the day trying to figure out Adobe.

But I gotta run I need to go make instant mashed potatoes for potluck supper tonight. I know what your thinking but I haven't gone shopping so that is the only food I have for like a group of people. Plus I talked to Heidi so we aren't bringing the same thing she is bringing instant sweet potatoes.

Take Care until Later

Note to God Mother: I wasn't going to post these photos on my blog because I figured everyone who reads my blog is on my facebook but then I remembered you so then I posted them just for you.

My Christmas

So after getting off work on Saturday the 22nd I got a ride to Edmonton and then caught the bus to Creston it was a 12 hour ride with very little sleep. My dad picked me up and then took me to my sister's place. I slept for a couple of hours and then after having a late breakfast/lunch we went over to my parent's house.
When I got to my parent's house my brother and his girlfriend and her dog were there. The dog had surgery the day before he is 17 years old and had some lumps removed. He started to chew at his stitches and they didn't have a cone because the lady at the vet said he wasn't doing anything with them most likely because he was drugged. But it was Sunday and with Monday being Christmas eve they wouldn't be able to go to the vet to get a cone so we told my brother to make something. We went down town and when we came back this is what we saw
the dog with a kokanee box around his head. It was pretty funny and he was been wearing it most of the time since. For those of you who think it's mean the dog is fine and it's better for him because he is not eating his stitches.

The picture below is of our tree at around 2:30 on Christmas Eve

and this is our tree at around 3:30 on Christmas Eve
You see my dad thought the tree should be in the basement all along where there was more space. Which I agreed with and so they were talking about it along with my sister and the next thing you knew we were moving the tree and all the presents. I was saying how do you spell ridiculous? P-r-o-u-d

When I was at Thanksgiving I learned how to make pies or at least I thought I did. So I told my mum that this year I would be making pies. So I gave her my list of ingredients before I came home and she picked up everything I needed. The crust process didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped. After numerous calls to the Langager's and making some changes I was finally able to get the pie crust into the pan without to much damage. Part of my problem was rolling on the counter and having it stick.

Below is a picture of my cherry pie before I baked it. It is not as nice as Erin Lanager's but it is still pretty good, but seriously I don't expect my pies to look as nice as Erin's she is much more detailed and particular about things than I am. Below is a picture of one of my pumpkin pies along side my favorite Lemon Meringue.
Below is a picture of the Lemon Meringue up close.
Below is a picture of the pumpkin pie and before you judge it I want you to know it tasted good. The problem was the pie crust broke around the edges all the way around and I am not sure why it did it.
Below is the cherry pie and the edges are really dark because we were eating supper downstairs and I forgot to check on it. The pumpkin I had wrapped foil around the edges to protect it but I forgot to do that with the cherry pie until it was to late. But I am told it still tasted good. I don't know for myself because I don't like cherry pies.

On Christmas Day I made buns but I was a little nervous because of the problem with the pie crust the day before but they ended up turning out great. They were a little on the big side but they were prefect for turkey buns today. Right before they were done I realized they weren't really getting brown on top so I quickly melted some butter and brushed it on top and then briefly put them under the broiler so they could get brown and they they were done.
Below is the picture from Christmas dinner. My sister is getting annoyed with pictures and I am posing because it makes it easier that way.
Below is a picture of the Lefse that I butter and sugared for my family and some people who were over. The plate on the right is my mum's because she is diabetic so she had sweetener on hers.

So the plate above is what is left after my family ate it. As you can tell they are not Norwegian and the whole concept of Lefse was a little more foreign to them. The only one who like it was my mum but I think that's because she is trying to be Norwegian her new favorite saying is "Uff Da". She is so silly.

Anyways I should run I need to go back to my sister's and pack everything for the next week which is going to be crazy.

Thursday- Leave for Summerland spend the night at my Aun't and Uncle's
Friday- Leave for Vancouver Island spend the next two nights at my Grandma's and spent time visiting family.
Sunday- Leave for Mission and spend the next four days being super busy trying to get a lot of visiting in with old Friends.
Thursday(Jan 3rd)- Leave Mission and head to Seattle where I will get on my flight to Minneapolis :D I am excited and the time is going so fast next thing I know I will be there.

Take Care. The next time I post I will most likely be in Minneapolis.

PRAYER

This week I am taking class at CLBI. It is part of my internship. I am also working during the week. Which so far has left me pretty tired. If you could please pray for me that I would find the time and the energy to get everything done that would be amazing. Also because I am tired I seem to get more easily stressed so if you could please pray about that also.

ERIN

I would like to introduce all of you to my friend Erin. You may wonder why I am doing this and the reason is today is her birthday. Some of you are lucky enough to know her and know that you are blessed by it. OK so I was trying to post these five different photos of Erin that I am sure most of you haven't seen but the Internet is bring dumb and I should be leaving for work right now. Plus for my sake it's most likely better I am not posting the photos cause I am sure Erin would of hurt me. :D

Erin is amazing, wonderful, beautiful(yes you are Erin), caring, thoughtful, gentle and kind....
I can also tell you that when Erin reads this her face might go a little red and she might try to convince her self that she is not these things but that is a lie.....I love you Erin and I hope you aren't mad at me for this post.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are LOVED

What's Happening in my Life

So this post is a few days later than I told you it was going to be but that's because the details weren't confirmed until yesterday.

As you know I am currently working here in Camrose. I will continue to do that until Dec. 22nd. Then I will take a long bus ride to Creston where my parent's and sister live. I will spend Christmas with them and then MAYBE go down to the coast after Christmas but I am not sure how that will work out.

Then around the 3rd or 4th of January I will head to the airport and board a flight for Minneapolis, Minnesota. I will be spending three months volunteering with the World Mission Prayer League as Part of my Internship. I will do various things like office work, correspondence plus once a week leading the prayer and devotion time for the staff. I am excited about this opportunity and that it is all confirmed.
After the three months working in the WMPL USA Office I will come back to Camrose and work in the Canadian WMPL office. Doing various tasks.

Along with working in the Canadian office I will continue to plan and work out the details for a family Mission trip for Resurrection Church here in Camrose. With the trip taking place next August. The details are still coming together about where the trip will be.

That is it. So you now know what is happening in my life for the next nine months. What will I do after that? I actually have no idea but I still have some time to think and pray about that.

The only thing happening right now isn't I haven't been sleeping well which is super frustrating. It takes me a long time to fall asleep and then I am awake before my alarm it's very annoying. Anyways check back in a few days.

First Real Snow

This is what I woke up to this morning. Angela and I both woke up before out alarms so we got ready for church early. Then walked around the path across the road from our house. I took some pictures. Then we went and got Timmy's and went to Church. We were a bit late. oops

The first and last photos are my two favorites. The photos aren't that great my photography skills aren't that good I am still working on them
